Office Christmas Gifts -- Finding The Right Gift

With the economy in the state it's in a lot of offices will probably be cutting down on or even cutting out buying gifts for co-workers.

But if your office is still exchanging gifts or you have a few close co-workers you'd like to exchange gifts with it can be hard to come up with good ideas.

Even though it may seem like you spend more time with these people than you do with your own family, it seems like when it comes to gift buying you don't really feel you know them well enough to know what to buy.  With a little advance planning you'll be able to find some great business Christmas gifts that won't use up too much of your holiday budget.

Do NOT Wait Unitl The Last Minute!  When you buy out of desperation you can end up spending way more money than you had planned.

Buying in bulk is also a good money saver as well as time saver. Not only will you have enough gifts for your co-workers you might even have some left over for neighbors and friends.

A classic tradition is the gift basket.  Don't groan!  It may sound boring but if you take the time to personalize it you'll end up with very creative Christmas gifts that let people know you put some thought into your gift giving.

Even if you can't buy in bulk to make baskets for a lot of people that may have varying interests, you can still make it unique to you.  It will even be okay if everyone gets the same baskets and they'll probably be talking about the great "theme" basket they got from you for weeks!

One idea that works well is a movie themed basket.  You can include microwave popcorn, candy, a classic DVD and even gift certificates to your local rental store.

An emergency-kit basket is another good idea.  Just go to your local discount store and purchase travel packs of things like basic first aid items, bottled water, a flash light and maybe somekind of food item that won't go bad like beef jerky.  There you have a great emergency kit for someone's  car trunk.

Get creative and you might even be able to come up with a theme that relates to your specific company.

If you're planning on spending a little more for office gifts,
personalization
is always a nice way to go.  You can go with any number of things --from paper weights to baseballs and have them engraved -- maybe with a funny inside joke from the office.  Or use a favorite affirmation or quote of yours that you'd like to share.  There are so many choices to have engraved, even just adding their name takes it one step from just a picture frame, plaque, mouse pad, etc.

Monthly gift clubs make nice gifts and you can choose from a wide range of interests.  Garden clubs offer different bulbs readey to bloom each month, chocolates from around the world, beer of the month, even wine every month.  You can choose from three, six and twelve month clubs to fit your budget.  There are even gourmet meal clubs that make a nice treat for a working parent.

You can come up with plenty of good office Christmas gifts if you just start early and give it a little thought.
